Take action:

  • Attend all classes and labs.
  • Read your textbooks and other assigned readings.
    • Make sure you know how to find readings, lessons, or other information in your class Moodle!

Take action:

  • Check out note-taking tips from the 'Take Better Notes' tutorial.
  • The daily practice plan also has good ideas for organizing course material.
  • Find or create flashcards, practice tests, and other review methods.
  • Identify which topics are the most likely to be on the exam and prioritize studying them. 

Take action:

  • Develop deep understanding by connecting new knowledge to something you already know or to something in your life.
  • Develop recall by using repetition or rote rehearsal.
  • If you're comfortable with it, try teaching a friend or a roommate about the exam topics.

Take action:

  • Anticipate what might be on the test and ask yourself critical questions.
  • Ask a friend or classmate to quiz you. Many textbooks have end-of-chapter quizzes that you can use.
  • Complete practice exams.
  • Find out if your professor has provided information about the format of the exam. Will it be multiple choice? Short answer or essay? A mix? 

Next, we will break down some ways that you can prepare in the months, weeks, and days leading up to your test.
