Different forms you can use to take notes include:

  • Outline: highly organized
  • Charting: helpful for memorizing
  • Concept mapping: more visual and allows you to make connections
  • Cornell method: organized and can be easy to use as a study guide
  • Sentence: easy to learn

Finally, you might want to consider whether you type or write your notes. Although typing notes can be faster, there can be advantages to writing notes. Taking photos of slides has also been suggested to be less effective than handwritten notes.
