Finding Secondary Sources
Historical research involves using several different kinds of sources:
- Primary Sources, which are original documents.
- Secondary Sources, such as scholarly books and journal articles that have been written by historians.
The General Search is where you will find our print and e-book collections, and it also searches many of our journal article databases such as JSTOR as well.
For more journal articles, consider using Academic Search Premier, which covers a wide range of subject matter.

A multi-disciplinary database containing full-text for thousands of journals in nearly every subject area, including: computer science, engineering, physics, chemistry, language and linguistics, arts and literature, medical sciences, ethnic studies, and many more.
- JSTOR This link opens in a new windowA bit difficult to search, but worth the effort. Use quotation marks around your search terms, and limit the "Type" to "Article."
