- IMDB: Internet Movie DatabaseThis is a great resource for production information, cast lists, and other details about films.
- Film Literature IndexFind citations to film, television, and video articles, reviews, and book reviews from 1976 to 2001. If you want full text, search for the journal title to see if we have it; you may need to order it, or ask a librarian for help.

History of the American Cinema by Call Number: Reference PN1993.5.U6 H55 1990 v. 1–10This enormous set looks at American cinema by era and covers a huge array of films and topics in historical and social context, as well as the evolution of film-making itself.
Encyclopedia of Early Cinema by Call Number: Reference PN1993.45 .E53 2005Explore technological and artistic developments in early cinema in America and internationallly. The thematic entry list at the beginning is especially useful; see topics arranged by country, cultural and social contexts, and much more.
The Encyclopedia of Novels into Film by Call Number: Reference PN1997.85 .T54 2005Find descriptions of over 300 American and foreign film adaptations. Both the novel and film(s) are summarized, including discrepancies and revisions between the two.
