Finding Sources in Spanish
There are different ways to search for sources at the library. Start with a General Search to search our catalog.
If you're looking for scholarly journal articles, consider using one of our specialized databases below for better results.
Search Tips
Here are some examples of basic search terms you can use:

To find strong search terms related to your specific topic, try the following:
- Look at the subject headings and keywords of resources you've already found.
- Consult relevant entries in some of the encyclopedias and other reference sources we have available.
Find Spanish-language articles by limiting your search to Language: Spanish.

Click the

Journal Databases
Journal databases are specialized tools for finding scholarly articles in academic journals, with advanced options for targeting your search on a specific topic.
If they seem a little intimidating, remember that the librarians are happy to show you how to use them to find the best sources as fast as possible.
- Academic Search Ultimate This link opens in a new windowAcademic Search Premier is the best general database to search. It covers everything from art to zoology. ASP contains over 8300 journals in all academic disciplines with over 4600 full text journals.
- Scientific Electronic Library OnlineIn Spanish, access to full-text articles from scholarly journals from Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Mexico and other Latin American countries.
- Films on Demand This link opens in a new window
Thousands of educational and documentary videos from authoritative sources. Create playlists and clips and embed these in your Moodle site or share with a group.
Includes films from Films for the Humanities & Sciences, Cambridge Educational, Meridian Education, and Films Media Group. - JSTOR This link opens in a new windowJSTOR is a collection of the back files of rock-solid academic journals across all academic disciplines. JSTOR is not the best place to start your research because the titles available in each subject area are limited. When you are searching the library's other databases, they link to JSTOR.
- Project Muse This link opens in a new windowA leading provider of digital humanities and social science content. Offers full-text versions of scholarly journals and books from many of the world's leading university presses and scholarly societies.
Google Scholar
Google Scholar is a subset of Google that searches specifically for academic and scholarly articles and books online.
- Search for sources in Spanish by changing the settings in the upper right corner.
- If you are on campus, the far right-hand side of the results will show which resources we have. If we don't have them, you can order them through Interlibrary Loan.
