Streaming Video

Augsburg theater students have access to thousands of streaming films from library databases. Check out the individual resources below, or just check the “Videos” box in our General Search at Find more about library access to streaming video here.

For spring semester 2020, we are trialing the Drama Online database. Drama Online comes from the London-based Bloomsbury Publishing, so its video content leans toward British drama, particularly Shakespeare (including ‘Shakespeare's Globe on Screen’ and ‘The Hollow Crown’), and performances by the U.K.'s National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company. Their ‘Core Collection’ has more than 1,700 playtexts, plus 700 images from the Victoria and Albert Museum and the American Shakespeare Centre. The L.A. Theatre Works Collection has 350 streaming audio plays.

Shakespeare in Film

The Films on Demand database contains many films of Shakespeare's plays.

Look on the right side of the page for the full list.

Those from the Globe Theatre are listed first — that's the London performing space that is a reconstruction of Shakespeare's own 1599 theater.
