The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is the standard used by Federal statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy.

This classification system was replaced by the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS), but many business sources still use SIC codes.

The North American Product Classification System (NAPCS) is a market or demand-based, hierarchical classification system for products (goods and services) that is not industry-of-origin based but can be linked to the NAICS industry structure and is consistent across the three North American countries.
