About 'Films on Demand'

Through the Films on Demand database, Lindell Library has streaming access to thousands of documentaries, feature films, educational films, and newsreels. Content from Films on Demand can be shown in a classroom, linked to in Moodle, or discovered through various ways in the library catalog.

Here is a quick guide to four ways you can search for particular films there.

The Easy Way: The Direct Link

  1. Go right to Lindell Library's Films on Demand collection with this URL:

  3. This will get you to a page that looks something like this:

  5. Using the search box, type in the title of the film you are looking for, then hit Enter ― put the title "in quotes" if you would like to search for an entire phrase. (You can also search by a film's description, its item number if you know it, or even part of its transcript)

  6. Search for Much Ado About Nothing

  7. You will see a list of results in the Films on Demand collection. Hit the arrow on your chosen film to get to a screen where you can start playing it

  9. Enjoy your movie! Look for the function buttons that allow you to expand to full screen and otherwise manipulate the image

  11. The film's URL (click on “Link” or “Direct Link” to see this) can be copied and pasted into Moodle

Method No. 2: Via the Database List

  1. Go to the Lindell Library main Web page, library.augsburg.edu
  2. In the middle of the page, the green box, click on “Databases A-Z”
  3. Find the F and click on it
  4. Scroll down to “Films on Demand” (the list is alphabetical)
  5. Click on “Films on Demand”
  6. The "Films on Demand" page appears. Follow Steps 3, 4, 5, and 6 in "The Easy Way," above, to search for and play your film

Method No. 3: From the 'Videos' Box

  1. Go to the Lindell Library main Web page, library.augsburg.edu
  2. In the “Specific searches” box, located just under the main search bar, click “Videos”
  3. Scroll down to “Streaming videos,” click on “Films on Demand”
  4. The "Films on Demand" page appears. Follow Steps 3, 4, 5, and 6 in "The Easy Way," above, to search for and play your film

Method No. 4: The Main Search Box

One more option from the Library main page ―

  1. Go to the Lindell Library main Web page, library.augsburg.edu
  2. Under the main search box, click on "Advanced Search"
  3. In the box labeled "Title," type in the film name in quotes, e.g. "Richard II"
  4. In the drop-down box labeled "Format," change the text to "Online content & media"
  5. In the box labeled "Library," check "Augsburg College"
  6. Click "Search"
  7. In the list that comes up, the first item is likely to be the one you want (look for "Lindell Library Streaming Videos"). Click "Access online"
  8. This takes you to the streaming-video site. Follow Steps 4, 5, and 6 in "The Easy Way," above, to play the film
